During the 2020 season, the bottom was really hit for Ferrari, but if some believed that once you got so low you could only go back, the truth was very different: once you hit bottom you can always dig to finish even more below (semicitation of FlopGear.it from Instagram). 2020 was just like that: more than once we thought we had seen everything and instead disappointment was just around the corner. Fortunately for 2021, Maranello engineers are expected to add 30 horsepower to the new Ferrari.
The 2021 Formula 1 season will kick off, as you can see from the calendar opposite, in March on the occasion of the pre-season tests, at which we will try to be present, although the Grand Prix will officially start in Melbourne if all goes as it should go. The technical department of Maranello would be working on a new power unit, already praised by Mattia Binotto, capable of delivering 30 horsepower more than the 2020 SF1000, thus returning to the levels of 2019, when Ferrari was capable of conquer pole positions and victories.
Certainly the step forward made by Mercedes is really great, if we combine this with the impossibility of modifying the chassis in 2021 it will be really difficult to see a Ferrari return to win in Monza 2019 style, but with everything that has happened in this 2020 season and with 30 more horsepower on the new Ferrari SF21, nothing is to be taken for granted.
